PRIZEWINNERS 2007

It has long been the policy of the branch; in association with the CUMBERNAULD FLYING SCHOOL, to award two flying scholarships to the Cadets of 2496 Squadron of the Air Training Corps who have collected the most during the “Wings Week” collection.  Each of the cadets gets one hours flying instruction, logbook and handbook and alongside we see them in the Cumbernauld Airport with their pilot tutor.

Below we see them in; a slightly less formal setting, before taking off on their great adventure.
GILLIAN CLARK MEMORIAL TROPHY

Gillian was a long serving member of the RAFA known to Branch 1355 as a significantly numerate Treasurer before her untimely death.

As a memorial her family funded these trophies won by the cadets. The  top cadet; whose name is then engraved on to the shield, keeps the shield for one year before passing it on to next years winner.
