Is an eye-witness account of when
the German war effort was crumbling in Apri1 1944 and the Nazi's pet
project was on schedule. The "final solution" was the systematic
destruction of the entire Jewish civilization. Ernest Levy, who was
transported to Birkenau concentration camp at this time bears testament to
the Nazi’s atrocities. On Thursday the 28th September 2003 our Guest
Speaker was The Reverend Ernest Levy O.B.E. A survivor of the Holocaust he urges young Scots to
remember the Nazi atrocities and ensure that it never happens again.
Reverend Levy says it is important that people remain aware of the cruelty
which existed within the Concentration Camps. As a teenager you suddenly
find Yourself in a Nazi Concentration Camp in Germany, you think it
could not get worse, yet it became worse every day. You would never
imagine such organised cruelty is possible . Ernest had just started a career as an engineer when his
family were Forced to move Budapest, Hungary by German and Hungarian
Nazis from his home in Bratislava in the former Slovakia. His Father ,
Leopold was a businessman, there they lost everything, their home and
possessions together with their means of surviving. |
