We arrived at 17.45 as planned and were welcomed by Chief Petty Officer Wilkes. Duly issued with our Identity Labels, we then posed for photographs with Commander Bill Jones who received our Association Plaque. The photographs were taken by a Senior Aircraftsman who had been seconded to the Navy at Faslane from RAF Coltishall. [very strange to an old hand]
Then into the Admirals Building to be treated to a first class presentation by Commander Bill Jones regarding the Base history and the modern day role of the Royal Navy.

Visit to FASLANE on Wednesday 20 April 2005
After a further talk in the Ward Room Lt White split us into two groups and handed us over to two of his colleagues CPO Lowe and PO Mathieson for an instructional tour of this mighty ship. Tour completed  we repaired to the Ward Room for a general question and answer session. Bob Taggart, on our behalf of our Branch, thanked the crew and the Royal Naval Base Clyde for their kind invitation to make this visit.
Moving on we were then issued with another ID, electronic this time, to allow us to gain entry to the working area of the submarine complex proper. Then we were introduced to Lt. Dougie White who gave us a run down on personal safety obligations, and who then preceded us into the bowels of HMS Vanguard, a missile carrying submarine.
