CUMBERNAULD RAFA Outreach Group visited
Eastfield Primary School to talk to pupils of Primary 7 about the Second World
War and in particular “The Home Front”.
Pupils arrived in class dressed in
period clothes, carrying their suitcases and gas mask cases and with name labels
attached to their jackets as in preparation to being evacuated.
The pupils were given an account of
the Clyde blitz, followed by a question and answer session on topics relevant to
life in wartime.
To end the day pupils joined in
singing some of the popular wartime songs, such as The White cliffs of Dover and
It’s a Long Way to Tipperaray.
