PHOTO[1]
See below a picture of the Lancaster bomber called “The City of
Birmingham”. Well we were visiting an area of the country known to so many as
“bomber country” even though Lincolnshire had it’s place in the development of
both the Spitfire and the Mosquito.
PHOTO[2] We show a photograph taken inside the headquarters of “12
Group”. We see the last two members of our party entering the “Operations Room”
where the defence of the east of the country from north of London to Yorkshire
was run.

The Royal Air Forces Association
(RAFA)
Cumbernauld Branch
Monthly meetings take place in The
Royal British Legion on the penultimate Wednesday of each month at 7-30pm
where you can be assured of a warm welcome and can meet up with old friends of a
similar interest. The committee meet the preceding Thursday at the RBL at
7.00PM.
The
Branch members accompanied by members from Dunfermline and Falkirk met at an
early hour on an abysmally cold morning at the RBL and proceeded to meet up with
the sunshine in Skegness. We came back thoroughly defrosted and tanned
with a large collection of pictures to process. Two random pictures are to be
seen on our web site, as a taster for more to come.
